Tips

Holiday HVAC Tip #6: Reduce water use. A few simple tricks can make a big difference in water usage even with extra guests and big holiday meals. Scrape the dishes into the trashcan rather than rinsing with water. Fill the entire sink with water and submerse the dishes rather than letting it run while you’re hand washing. Once washed, place hand washed dishes aside and then rinse them all at once.

Holiday HVAC Tip #5: Routine. Routine HVAC maintenance is always recommended before the cold weather season but if you haven’t already scheduled yours, now’s the time. Your annual tune-up can help to ensure reliable warmth and comfort as you entertain guests and also prevent fires from clogged or dirty equipment. Call Kettman Heating & Plumbing to schedule a maintenance appointment!

Holiday HVAC Tip #3: Turn down the heat! If you’re cooking for the holidays, you are guaranteed to have your oven on for extended periods of time. Because your oven will be running so much, it will actually be providing some heat to your home. You can even keep the oven door open after cooking and let your oven heat the space during and after cooking. This means that your furnace won’t be needed to run as much, so feel free to turn your furnace down a few degrees since your oven can make up for the extra heat needed.
